Uniform ("Judogi") - Club requirements
The uniform worn by a Judo player is called a Judo Gi (pronounced gee). Most club members while attending a lesson choose to wear a suit known as a club suit. This suit is lighter in weight and costs considerably less than a competition suit, which, for obvious reasons is much more durable. Usually all suits are white or off white. A competition suit however can be reversible with the colour blue (B/W Reversible). For beginners and non-competing players the absence of a judo gi can be overlooked instead loose fitting clothes covering your knees may be worn. Please keeping in mind that these clothes have to be durable and may get ripped or torn during a lesson.
T-shirts (white only) should be worn by ladies/girls under their Judo Gi. No shoes or socks should be worn on the mat, either should any sharp protruding objects such as jewellery (of any kind) eye glasses, eye contact lenses or hair clasps/bands which have metal/hard plastic parts. Long hair should be tied back with ribbon or rubber band.
Belt colours range from white, red, orange, green, blue, brown and black and can be bought in two sizes at any good sports shop. Further info. on belt colours for which grade can be found under the letter B. (Clubs/ Scottish Judo Federation does not supply belts once graded).
A drink can be brought to the meeting but should be in a non-breakable container.
Changing and showering facilities are available on the premises
Further Information on where to purchase a suit and suit prices can be obtained from Tracey (Club Secretary) either at each club session or enquire by e-mail.
